Welcome to Sumiya Ryokan, a Japanese style inn located in Kyoto. We serve you with kyo-kaiseki a traditional Kyoto style multi-course dinner. The dishes are prepared to bring out the natural flavors of fresh seasonal Kyoto vegetables. Each dish is brought to your room immediately after it is prepared warm dishes while they are warm and cold dishes while they are cold. At Sumiya, guests are invited to an after-dinner tea ceremony on every 7th and 17th at a tea room where a tea kettle is heated over a sunken hearth, waiting to serve the guests. In Kyoto City a new accommodation tax will be implemented starting October 1,2018

In order to increase the attractiveness of Kyoto City as an international tourism destination and to plan the further promotion of tourism,Kyoto City will impose a municipal accommodation tax on all guests staying within Kyoto City limits starting on October 1,2018.
The municipality plans to use the tax revenue to conduct a more balanced method of city planning to make Kyoto both a favorable place to live and to visit.

 

Target of Accommodation Tax

・The tax will be levied on guests staying at accommodation facilities / residences which accept accommodation fee.
・This tax will be imposed on those staying at any facilities accepting money for accommodation as stipulated in the Hotel and Ryokan Management Law.This includes hotels, ryokans, simple accommodations, as well as residence rentals stipulated in the Private Lodging Business Law.

In the evening of every 7th and 17th of the month, Sumiya Ryokan invites guests to our tea room after dinner and serves green tea the traditional way. Guest can experience the tea ceremonical way of enjoy green tea With friend and family during stay at Sumiya Ryokan The cost is 4,000 yen (tax exclude) per person it become 3,000 yen (tax exclude)per person By application of two or more persons We need to prepared please let us know at least one day in advance mid noon And let us know your contact place,telephone number (limited to guest stay or taking lunch, dinner at Sumiya Ryokan) Book now

Access by car and public transportation Approx. 15 minutes by taxi from JR Kyoto Station Subway   ・Karasuma Line: Approx. 8 minutes by foot from Karasuma Oike Station When visiting us by car   ・We will guide you to the nearest parking lot.    (Free during the period from check-in to check-out.)
